Shaun The Sheep is a franchise I hold dear to my heart, growing up with Wallace & Gromit I have such appreciation for what Aardman does, from their pitch perfect humor that seems to be timeless to the beautiful miniature environments and animation. When Shaun the Sheep came onto the scene I instantly enjoyed it. Not long after, my children came along and now they to are absolutely captivated by it every night while we eat dinner together with Shaun.
When I heard there was a second Shaun the Sheep film on the way I think it’s safe to say I was pretty excited, even more so when I received an invite to an early screening from StudioCanal, which happened to include a family pass, making this film the first time i’ve been able to take my three and a half year old daughter Alyx along to a press screening before, as you can imagine she was ecstatic.
Farmageddon has Aardman tackling the family friendly sci-fi genre following Shaun and the rest of the sheep attempting to help a lost alien to get home. Along the way they encounter many obstacles you would expect from the usual such as the farmer to sci-fi staples like government agencies!
One of the things that always surprises me when Shaun jumps to the big screen is just how much more detail the larger budget provides, everything looks massive, clean and has an immense amount of detail and cinematic style, which is definitely present here.
The comedy, as usual hits all the right notes while maintaining a delicate balance with the sweet emotional core of the film.
My daughter loved Farmageddon and surprise, so did I, Aardman proves again that they are an absolute gem of a company and I hope they continue making these forever!
Shaun The Sheep: Farmageddon is in Aussie Cinemas now!
