Written and Directed by Katie Found, My First Summer is a beautifully crafted, intimate portrait of a relationship between two 16 year olds in rural Australia.
The two lead performances by Markella Kavenagh and Maiah Stewardson of which are fantastic, offer an extremly believable and grounded representation of a very young first relationship which also delves quite a bit into emotional trauma of which I obviously won’t go into to avoid spoiling the film.
Great performances, beautifully shot with spots of great editing thrown in for good measure, My First Summer is definitely one to check out.
Thanks to Adelaide Film Festival for inviting me along!
