Abner Pastoll’s A Good Woman Is Hard To Find presents us with an extremely competent small scale thriller centring around a struggling single mother played brilliantly here by Sarah Bolger with a very grounded performance that feels all too real.
Taking inspiration from recent crime thrillers, A Good Woman Is Hard To Find employs a fairly restrained electronic soundtrack throughout which personally I thought worked quite well here.
Everything here feels extremely grounded and organic, from the naturalistic sound design to the restrained but often beautiful cinematography which gets a massive thumbs up from me as it just works so well together.
While it is quite a slow burn, the execution and direction work really well here and the build up and subsequent release when we get to the finale provide all the punch you would ever need from a contained thriller.
A Good Woman Is Hard To Find ticks all the right boxes for the genre and with its unfaltering execution it comes highly recommended!
